Hey mom!

"Stop complaining, life is good!"

That is what Oliver told me today.

He's a pretty smart guy and super adorable so I'll listen to him.

(Until 4 pm :))

highs and lows

Highs and Lows are easy to come by...but lately there have been way too many lows around here

Broken toe (me), unexplainable hurt right hand (m), Pneumonia (Isaac), Sinus infection and possible pneumonia (Kyle). Too many baskets of laundry (dang it! And there are more behind that closed door!).

Kyle still has a Lame job (and we try to remember to be thankful he HAS a job but really, it is a HORRIBLE work environment). AND I think it might snow any day now--which to me is a LOW.

I broke my toe at enrichment...just hit it on a leg of a chair, HARD. Almost blacked out and almost puked but managed to slip out before anyone noticed. It is not as mangled as the one I broke last year, thankfully! I think it is hard being a mom---but it HARDER when you are an injured mom. I see no light at the end of the tunnel today. My hand has hurt for 2 months and I just slapped that brace on from Walgreens and it seems to be getting worse not better. Now the other one is hurting. Venting, venting, venting....
I wonder how single moms and moms that have serious injuries or illnesses do it! Or how my sisters who have MORE kids than me do it? And Annie--how do YOU do it with your shoulder??

I am self diagnosing my self with mother-bipolarism.
Thoughts during the day...

10 am: Wow, look at me, the kids and I are ready for the day, Oliver hasn't puked on me yet, I'm super mom with all this quality time I am giving to my kids and my house is clean! LIFE is great!

4 pm: Why do I even have kids?

Some TIMES of the day I like my job and want my kids and other times I just want lose them somewhere.

These would be examples of the high times.
Glimmers of hope.
Happy times.
When I ALMOST forget how bad my hand hurts.

right now my only medication is chocolate and kissing Oliver's cheeks.
it helps me ignore everything else.

Oliver 3 months old

3 months old
(in a couple of days)
Our little sleepy head froggy monkey boy!
A very pensive baby.

But showing us more of these every day!!

Ruby still claims "Ollie" to be HER baby. If anyone besides mom or dad touch him she screams "MINE!" It was really really cute the first 100 times. Now it is getting a bit old and she is sounding more and more like a spoiled child. We are going to have to undo that damage soon. But Kyle and I have a really hard time not spoiling her...she is too adorable and makes us laugh ALL the time.
Both of my babies are growing up fast. But I would be lying if I told you time was flying by. Not this time. Kyle and I agree that instead of saying "wow, he is already 3 months old" we find ourselves saying instead, "Is he really only 3 months old?" That is what having two babies does to us...that and having 4 kids. We are in survival mode most days and Love our weekends.

and we love all our kids too.

Buried Treasure

Question?
What do you find when you are digging in the dirt planting trees in your yard?
A. Bones (hopefully not the remains of the previous owner)
B. More dirt
C. Lots of Rocks
D. Underwear
E. Enough Potato bugs to fill your entire bathtub

Answer below

Although we did find nearly everything else on that list, the answer is
D
Yep, we are that lucky!!

I'm really wondering how they got there? Was someone trying to hide a dirty little secret or did someone's laundry just get blown away during a windstorm?
Who knows, maybe you will be the next lucky owner of these lovely treasures!! A little soap and these beauties will make a great Christmas gift! Or, mabye not... Luke did ask me if they were scary Halloween decorations when I was taking the picture.

lil' stinker

You are definitely that--our stinkiest baby yet! Lots of baths for you but we don't mind. We love our stink bug and think you are too cute!

Children of the Corn

Isn't that what this picture reminds you of? Children dragging children off into the corn fields is kinda a scary thought. I tried so hard for this to be a cute picture but Ruby would NOT cooperate so I ordered to the boys to NOT let go and this is what I got.

This is when I wish we would have brought the nanny along so that mom could be in the picture too.

We Widdisons take our duck races very seriously.

Almost as seriously as our pig races. Isaac has tried so many times to be a volunteer to race a pig and finally he got picked! (they choose the loudest in the audience and I finally went up behind him and screamed like a maniac.) He was pretty excited and didn't even care that his pig didn't win.

I took this picture for our friends the Browns. Ruby LOVES them. We like them too.

What a great picture. Little girl riding a scary horse. Being so obedient and cheesing it for the camera even though inside she is screaming in fear.

We are building one of these in our backyard this weekend. Send your kids over if they are naughty.
We love to go to cornbellys at Thanksgiving point during the fall/Halloween season. We have been going for the past 5 years and it is so much fun to look back at the pictures.
After a number of failed attempts, this is the best shot I got of all the kiddos.

Attempts at a perfect picture.

Maybe you can join us next year!
If your corn looks like this, do not eat it!

Ruby's cornbelly
Luke's cornbelly
Isaac's cornbelly
The 5th annual chicken show posed picture.

Loved NOT Forgotten.
In case you were wondering where our 4th child was, he was tucked safely and quietly away in the stroller for most of the fun. He is often our forgotten child, but we do really love him a lot!

turn your head for this next one:)
