Lately...

Lately we've been doing lots and lots.

Lots of cleaning.
(Great good morning hair, huh?)

Lots of reading.

Lots of holding.
(mostly Mom and Dad doing that)

(and in case you were wondering, Oliver looks so much like his daddy)

Lots of practicing.
Isaac just started piano lessons last week. Gulp. We've already had one major melt down and as he sad there crying I sat there completely confused, bewildered, and in awe of my mother. Why and How did she put up with this for so many years from all of her children? Do I even dare? Is is worth it? We shall see. One meltdown down. 2 million, 87 to go.

Lots of chill.

And we FINALLY had another video chat with my parents in Guatemala. The kids loved it but the sound was awful. In part because of our connection but also because the kids were going crazy. Fighting to be seen on the computer screen and Ruby thought it should only be her on the screen. She spent most of the chat in her room chillin.:) It was fun to see and chat with my parents. Hopefully we will understand more of what they have to say next time. I think my kids favorite part was when Grandma and Grandpa pretended to fight over the computer screen, imitating their lovely grandchildren. It was pretty funny to see the shoving and pushing and hair pulling.

And lots of planting trees. I don't have a picture of Kyle sweating for hours in the sun planting NINE trees in our yard so this picture will have to do.

Oliver 2 months

Stats
24 1/2 inches (95%)--my longest baby at 2 months by an inch!
13.4 lbs (90%)--Isaac was 13.5 lbs
Head circ. 50%--my smallest head boy baby!
Kyle and I have decided that the head size makes all the difference. Because Oliver's head is smaller than Isaac and Lukes was at 2 months he seems way smaller than them even though he weighs about the same.

Oliver is smiling more and more each day and it is so much fun for the kids to see him reacting their voices. He is cooing now and it melts our hearts. We are biased but we think he is a pretty darn cute baby.

We love you Oliver!

life with a ruby

My life with Ruby
Can be kinda tough sometimes.
She is coming in for the kill...

No worries.
I know how to protect myself.
But she really is quite harmless.
brrrrrr with my lips isn't so bad...
Sometimes.
Annoying.

Yes.
But I'm a survivor.

And she really is well intentioned, quite harmless (except to that fly), and one heck of a big sister.
she was soooo happy with herself. we have had a ton of flies lately and Ruby watches us kill them all day long. She finally got in on the action and it is hilarious to watch and listen to her. "oh, I missed!" This time she said "Oh, I missed..ooooh...ahhh" and pointed in excitement when she figured out she didn't miss and then smacked it again!

click HERE to enjoy a super terrific short Widdison family movie clip.
Including but not limited to:
copy cat mommy, coos and smiles, story time bonks, can't hear that 3rd child on the bed syndrome, and a bit of a tug of war

When I watch it I think..."and that was just 3 minutes."

So this is what it's like..

I want to remember these days.
But most of the time I feel like I am sleep walking (probably due to the lack of sleep.)
And life feels like one big blur.
But I think sometimes that blur is pretty darn cute so I snap pictures like a crazy lady.

The kids enjoying the halloween bucket of costumes
Kyle working hard putting our swing set together and the boys LOVING it. It stayed half-way done for awhile but finally got finished about a week later.
Ruby the "helper". She never ever makes messes. Nuh uh, not her! She LOVES to help me clean. Here she is wanting to dump every single ingredient in the cookies...who needs to measure? And my recent favorite--as soon as Luke is done emptying the silverware she climbs right up and puts ALL of it back in. Takes her a while to do it which is probably why I let her do it. I think I was able to dry my hair this time.
The punk rockers. Obsessed with talking about robbers and striking cute? poses. I just wanted one normal one but I guess these will have to do.
This is a fun toy that G-pa Widdison got for Isaac's birthday last year. One day the kids just ran in circles over and over chasing it. Ruby LOVED it. She felt so big and did not want me to take her picture...she just kept running away laughing.
Labor day holiday the boys camped in the backyard. They lasted until about 4 am and then came inside to their warm beds. It got to be about 40 degrees. Before they went outside we make s'mores in the microwave. Luke takes eating smores very very seriously.
Luke and Oliver. So cute. Um, not sure about the spider card--Luke insisted and it is really hard to say no to that kid. Like when he wanted to make super hero punch. He came up with the recipe all by himself. 1 cup sugar, lots of water, Koolaid and then dip your super heroes feet in it. Yum. And he was very serious through the whole process and very excited to share it with his friends.
Our adopted Auntie Jen sent us another fun package. The kids had a blast eating their tongues!! THanks Jen! You're the best!
Ruby Lou and Libby Lou. They are the best of friends...well, mostly Libby just tolerates Ruby...but that is an improvement! Eventually they WILL be the best of friends. Libby's mom and I did not plan their outfits but one day they just matched in green and were so cute.

SADDEST day ever when I ate the last bag of these. I bought at least 10 bags of these for a dollar a piece and now they are ALL GONE. The best chocolate EVER. I didn't make one single cookie with them. They were the perfect treat and I wish I had more.
the swing set complete! A picnic table too!
Ruby was so excited to call me over and show me that Ollo was holding her hand! she loved it!
These are my thank you notes. Some of you may get them, others will not. If you did something nice to me in the last 6 months just do me a favor and imagine one of these ending up at your house with a nice personal note inside from me. Yours can be right side up.
I really want to be on top of everything and life back to normal with a schedule and a clean house and thank you notes written and sent on time...but it just isn't gonna happen!
Thank YOU!

I tried to post this the "different day, not this day, the day back behind of today" but I fell asleep hitting the space bar--literally.

Oh, and that is how Luke says YESTERDAY.
I love it!

Wordless Wednesday

Because I have no time for words.
In anticipation for Luke's favorite holiday. He is so excited to have a little sidekick who also likes to dress up. Maybe not as much as him (he is in some sort of costume for most of the day).

Today was one of those days when I wondered, are there really 24 hours in a day?

I guess it wasn't really wordless just less words.

Monkey Boys!

Can you guess who's who?

I am a sucker for traditions. One tradition that we have is to take pictures of our boys in the same outfits. There are 4 or 5 outfits that we do this with. Our monkey outfit is one of them. Aren't they all cute monkey boys? Isaac is 3 1/2 mo., Luke is 2 1/2 mo. and Oliver is 1 1/2 mo. Are my boys getting bigger or is the outfit shrinking? I'm pretty sure Isaac wore it before it was washed and shrunk but I'm also pretty sure that even though Oliver isn't my chubbiest baby, I think he is my longest. We'll see in a couple of weeks when we go for his 2 month check up.

Lukisms

This kid never runs out of stuff to say. His imagination is amazing...but I don't think that is what he would call it. To him, it is REAL LIFE!

The first time I saw this picture it freaked me out a bit--those are not his big bunny teeth...he has a marshmallow in his mouth and chocolate everywhere else:)

This is from Luke TODAY!

"Mom, did you know that I ate popscicle sticks in china with my father? My real mother and father are dead. They were attacked and eaten by a cheetah. You are my new mother. I didn't like the poscicle sticks because they were yucky so I ate Chinese noodles instead."

(from me--Luke, how did we get you, if we aren't your real parents?)

"I just wondered off and came to our old house and then you moved there, remember?"

(no Luke, I don't remember that.)

"Mom, did you know that I can transform into a werewolf and T-Rex so that I can eat meat all the days of my life?"

Luke came upstairs wearing a basket ball hoop the other day. He claims he didn't know it would do this.

Other good stuff from the mouth of Luke:

"Mom, I have 2 good newses. ONE--Oliver is Wide alseep and TWO--he is not crying!"

(The other day Luke told me he was pretending to be a teenager. I asked him what a teenager was)

"A teenager is a really really big kid. They drink lots of tea and wear t-shirts and say "raw, raw" at their parents."

Practicing safety while using the computer.

Do not try and tell this kid that he is not a real life scientist. He will cry real tears. Also, do not try and tell him that he is not a super hero at night. Or that he doesn't have to get up in the middle of the night with his flashlight and color and cut out paper to make his powers. Also, don't tell him what real scientist do in real life because he won't believe you. They do not invent or discover new things they just don't. Scientists make MONSTERS-- REAL LIVE MONSTERS. Every time I tell Luke that I believe he is a scientist I become the best mother in the world to him. He radiates happiness and I can do no wrong.

Thanks for always teaching me something new Luke!

You are one of a kind!

And just in case you have forgotten about this little boy--

Oliver is growing up nicely. He is kinda fussy if he is awake so we are all happy that he still sleeps most of the day!

6 weeks old today! Wow!
